A Reference Matrix for Information System in Supply Chain Management
Luiz Felipe Scavarda, Alessandro B. De Carvalho, Márcio S. Vieira
Abstract
Considering the importance of information systems (ISs) in supply chain management (SCM), an attempt has been made in this paper to review the literature concerning reference models that organize the different ISs necessary for the success of a supply chain under a SCM perspective. These ISs are generally organized in a SCM matrix formed by two dimensions: decision levels (the vertical axis) and supply chain business processes (the horizontal axis). The goal of this paper is to conduct an exploratory study concerning SCM matrixes for IS in order to bring out pertinent factors that would support other researchers
and practitioners in understanding the organization of ISs in SCM. Several reference models based on the SCM matrix were identified and analyzed and then used to form the basis of a general framework that was applied to two supply chain cases in Brazil.
