RESUMO:
The competitiveness generated in recent years because of globalized markets and breaking of trade barriers, has led several industries to adopt strategies to seek the consolidation of their businesses. One of the ways found by some companies, was to act together to obtain competitive advantages and achieve goals in the same line of business. Thus, the present work aims to show the economic importance of the footwear cluster in the Cariri Region (Ceará, Brazil), describing the relationships between industrial clusters, and how this contributed to the formation of competitiveness and development. This study is configured as a descriptive case study, where a questionnaire was used to assess the characteristics and relationships that the local cluster has in relation to market competitiveness. In the results, there is the importance that the footwear cluster has for the Cariri Region, promoting it has local economic development, generating income and contributing to the national economy.
